Riverside St Johns Deadzone

I live in Riverside on the water, a stone’s throw away from St. Vincent’s. For whatever reason, when the st johns widens on this side of downtown, the north bank here is virtually a dead zone. All you can catch is catfish and the occasional croaker. Meanwhile, if you go a mile or 2 in any direction (toward downtown or Ortega), there’s trout, redfish, etc., galore. Same goes with seeing dolphins. I used to live by Five Points/memorial park and I’d see them nearly everyday; here, just a mile down the road, I’ve never seen a single one — and I’m literally looking at the water constantly.

What is up this this dead zone?
